Karmantik was founded in 2015 by Sruthi Niveditha Kande and Apoorva Kamath who are alumni of the Young India fellowship program of Ashoka University. The company collaborates with artisans to create handcrafted footwear.

Karmantik's product embodies a brand that combines traditional and urbane styles of footwear while focusing on comfort and quality. Its larger vision though is to foster sustainable livelihood opportunities for artisans through design interventions in the product and increased market access. The venture intends to encourage the craft of shoemaking and strengthen the existing market for handcrafted footwear.
